Description

FLEETGUARD FS19856 premium 7 micron replacement fuel filter for '03-'07 Dodge Cummins trucks equipped with the HPCR 5.9-liter engine. The common-rail engine in these trucks requires a finer filtration medium to help protect the fuel injectors.

Includes o-ring.

Before installing your new fuel filter, please read the instructions provided in 'Install/Tech Information'.

NOTE: While this fuel filter will fit into the filter housing of the '00-'02 trucks, it is not recommended for use due to the 7 micron rating. This is because the potential for restriction of fuel flow to the expensive VP44 fuel pump can lead to its failure.

Diesel engines are expensive to replace or rebuild! So why skimp on your fuel filter? Sure, you can get some cheaper but do it right and buy Fleetguard filters. I change mine every other oil change!

Been using Stratopore filters for years and never had a problem. If it's good for cummins it's good for me.

I have used these filters for years. Have performed as expected

Packaging
Oct 15, 2017  |  By Jon Rasmussen
Good deal on the filters and all, but it didn't come in the fleetguard box (just wrapped in plastic). I would feel better knowing this was an authentic filter if it had some kind of packaging stating so.
Owner Response:Jon, Fleetguard does print the part number very faintly on the end cap of the filter.

Like it!

GOOD IN A PINCH, BUT NOT THE BEST!
Oct 14, 2019  |  By Curt
I've been using these filters for over six years (over 120,000 miles), and have always purchased them from Geno's. I recently had to replace 4 injectors for dirt getting into them and causing failure. My mechanic said that I should be using a 4 micron or finer filter on my 2006 3rd Gen. 5.9 Cummins truck. After researching Dodge, they to recommend a 4 micron filter. I've shopped a lot from these guy's, and have always had great luck with the stuff I get from them. I believe that I might have gotten some bad gas in Montana, which might have contributed to the failure, but might have been caught with a finer media of filter. Know one will ever know for sure I guess, so I'm leaving three stars for the effort. These have done the job for 6 years, but injector failure does take time to happen. Who knows.
Owner Response:Curt, Thank you for being a valued customer for many years, and thank you for your review! We regret that you have had some issues, and bad fuel can certainly cause many headaches! We carry the stock filters only from Fleetguard (the filtration division of Cummins), and we do not sell any aftermarket filters. They built the 2006 with a 7-micron filter, and that's what they currently offer and recommend. While we agree that the older common rail systems could use a finer micron fuel filter, the only stock option is 7-micron. There are aftermarket options available but to work correctly, most require adding a higher-volume pump. If not, you will overwork the stock lift pump, which will shorten the life of the supply/lift pump. In some circumstances, no matter how fine of a micron, it cannot filter out all particulates and moisture when the system is full of contaminated fuel. The filters can only hold so much before being overwhelmed. Once moisture or debris enters the fuel system, it does not take long for the components to fail.
