We are all familiar with dowel pins. They are typically used to help locate and line up a housing-to-housing assembly. Such is the case with the Cummins 12-valve engines (and some early model 24-valve engines) where the gear case/timing cover assembles to the engine block.
The dowel pin used in the Cummins engine can back out of its bore. When it does, it can fall into the camshaft gear and cause all types of expensive engine damage.
The folks at TST Products have developed a kit to cover the dowel pin and prevent its movement. The kit is inexpensive protection. Unfortunately the labor involved to access the KDP and cover it with the cover tab is time consuming. However, clear instructions make it a job that they DIYer can handle.
Protect your engine by installing the KDP Kit from TST Products.
