Family Problems: What to do about Splash and Wham-o?We're all family, right? Yet, some problems are too embarrassing to discuss. Begrudgingly, let's talk about Splash and Wham-o.
Splash was a problem the first time you opened the Fourth Generation truck's tailgate. Water accumulated on the plastic aero-lip of the tailgate cover and you got a splash on your front side when you dropped the tailgate. Such a poopie design.
Wham-o, he came along a little later, like the first time someone else dropped the tailgate onto a close-by trailer jack. Bam/thunk! Now there is a big dent in the tailgate's horizontal edge that no one knows anything about. Such a poopie design.
Our replacement plastic tailgate protector corrects the problem that Splash created with a flat surface instead of the aero-lip. Our plastic tailgate protector corrects the problem that Wham-o created by wrapping (covering up) the tailgate's horizontal edge. This is a heck of a lot cheaper than repairing a tailgate.
The Splash and Wham-o cover is textured similar to the factory plastic cover. We supply new mounting clips and 3M double-sided tape to hold the cover in place. Keep yourself dry and protect (cover up) your tailgate with the Splash/Wham-o tailgate protector.

Fits 2010 to 2024 Ram 2500/3500 trucks.
Also fits '09-'18 Ram 1500 and '19-'23 Ram 1500 Classic trucks. Does not fit new bodystyle 2019 Ram 1500 trucks.

I dented the top of my tailgate on my trailer jack after a pricey quote from an auto body shop I came across the Splash Whammy on this site. It surpassed my expectations, it looks like it belongs on the truck and has a quality fit, you can feel it snap into place on the tailgate and with the replacement pins and double sided tape makes for an easy professional looking install that also hid my dent. would highly recommend this product. Only one ive found like it online.

I guess I had high hopes for this gives the price. It is nice because it does cover where my tailgate was showing wear and tear that could not be easily touched up. However, the Splash Wham-O appears to be a thermoplastic, but not a TPO in the typical formulation for automotive trim parts such as OE bed and tailgate caps. Further, the Splash Wham-O was produced with a grain texturing while OE uses a stipple, so visually it is different because of the texturing and the different composition (it's a deeper black). The fit of the part is nice and tight, but you will likely need to remove some casting flash from the edges. The holes and recesses for the push fasteners for mine were slightly off, but still worked. I centered the Splash Wham-O side-to-side on my tailgate. The left most pin was centered, but as you worked right, the rightmost pin head had to be forced into the recess for it. Also, do not bother with the supplied 3M VHB tape. 3M VHB is completely the wrong tape for thermoplastics and automotive trim applications! What should have been provided is 3M Acrylic Plus as this is the standard for attaching automotive trims to body panels. Yes, I am experienced here because I used to do body work and paint for a living. Even though I knew better, I tried the VHB thinking maybe Geno's knew something I did not. I thoroughly prepared the Splash Wham-O, and tailgate, applied the Splash Wham-O, used a nice roller to press everything together over the tape locations, and then used few clamps over each for 48 hours. Actually held when clamps were removed, but literally by the next morning the plastic was free from the tape. I took it all apart - practically no bond of VHB to the Splash Wham-O, but I had to use a 3M adhesive removing wheel to take the tape off the tailgate. I re-prepared everything and used a continuous run of 3M Acrylic Plus tape, and it's been holding for the last 9 days through 95 degF temperature, direct sunlight, and running down the highway in pouring rain. I would not be comfortable without the tape because of the direct that works itself behind these trim pieces, and then with the trim piece moving, it would shred the underlying paint and cause rust. I cannot tell you how many truck I repaired because of cancer under bed and tailgate caps.

This is exactly what I was hoping for! Perfect fit and easy install. Had to do a little trimming of the spray in bedliner, but after that the fit was perfect. I would buy this product again. Very satisfied customer!!

My tailgate had a lot of damage on the rail, and I was looking to buy a used tailgate, then I found this product. I removed the access panel from the tailgate and hammered out the massive dents and installed the new protector. Install was easy and now my tailgate looks great.

Nearly cried when I "boogered up" the upper tailgate lip of my 2018 RAM. Found this online. Fit is perfect. Next day delivery to Upstate SC. Problem solved. Looks almost factory. I'd give 6 stars if this was a rough textured plastic instead of smooth.

Great product, Perfect fit and covered my dent saving me over a thousand dollars to repair. I did have an issue with the supplied 3M tape sticking. I picked up some Gorilla HD 30lb. 1" double sided tape and it seems to be holding up to the Arizona heat.

Keep my truck like mint. The top edge of tailgate was getting chipped from normal use. Right below top edge. Took a chance with this online purchase and it is So Worth It. Hides all my paint scratches and way better protected. Even seals the BAKflip bed cover better than before. Instructions had some down to earth humor also!!

backed into a tree two different times one left side one right the wham o cover both easy installation. not sure how well the tape is working but it fit and snapped into place so well I had a hard time removing it after a dry fit. worst part was a fed x poor delivery of 6 days. no fault of geno's.

Bought this after putting a minor scratch in my tailgate on my new 2500. not a big deal but knowing this undoubtedly happen again, I'd rather be safe than sorry down the road. All I can say is it exceeded my expectations! good quality, fits well and looks great. WORTH THE COST!

I work out of the back of my truck so my tailgate is constantly up and down, and getting beat up. this fits over the edge nicely, and should keep my tailgate a little safer from dings, dents, and scratches.

Not sponsored or paid by them it's just a solid product! My tailgate had a decent dent from it slamming on the camper handle, now you can't see it. After 2 attempts and full reimbursement on replacement ones I found this one. It actually goes almost to the handle for more protection and is made of higher quality plastic. It comes with tabs, double sided tape, alcohol wipes, green scratch pad, free decals, for a 2 min assembly. Ram owners...try it out.

I am really impressed with your product. Opened the box and immediately saw the quality of the tailgate cap which was way better than the OEM product I took off. I had an estimate to fix the dent I was trying to cover up in my upper tailgate and it was $900. Your product covered the dent over perfectly. I had seen some reviews that stated as much and they were 100% accurate.

So drunk me decided to be cool and pull the Yeti out of the back of the truck and forgot to realize that the tongue latch on the trailer was in the up position. Long story short I dragged the 200 lb cooler off the tailgate and heard the crinkling of the latch pushing up against the trail gate of my Ram Sport. Instead of trying to push the dent out I looked up tailgate protectors and this one took the cake! Cost friendly, professional, and coverered my screw up without having to buy a new tailgate! Literally took 3 days from having a big dent to installation of this protector and nobody will ever know. Guess I learned my drunken lesson...could have been worse but thank you guys for getting this product to my doorstep so quickly! 12/10 will be shopping here again!

Just a note to express how satisfied I am with your Splash Wham-o tailgate protector molding for my 2015 Ram 1500. It fits the tailgate perfectly, and although I used automotive tape, the fit was so exact that the six supplied replacement screws was all that was really necessary. So simple to remove the old molding and replace it with your product. It covers the dent/ding I had at the top of the tailgate. I had an estimate from a local body shop of $700 to remove the dent and paint the tailgate. Using your product saved hundreds of dollars, and it looks great. Hard to express how satisfied I am with your product.

It serves it purpose but the fit and finish needs some work. One end was a little narrow and it doesn't sit down all the way or line up with the existing trim. A couple hole are a tad bit off. Overall, it covered the small dents I needed cover and the water doesn't pool up on it. It will do.

wish i would have found this sooner. My factory protector got torn up and i found this replacement.
100 times better than factory part. easy to install and cover more of the tailgate. my son backed into a stump with the tailgate down and put a crease in the tailgate. this protector covered up the dent and looks great!

I was skeptical about this product, not anymore. Had a scratch and dent on my tailgate from unloading a 550# valve with three guys without a forklift on a jobsite. Needless to say...I hate having scratches and dents on my truck even though it's a work truck. This covered the dent and fit up perfect. The only thing that could have been better is if it matched the OEM finish. This one is smooth as compared to the OEM that has a kind of non-skid surface. Other than that, it looks great. Took me longer to open the box and read the directions than it did to take the old one off clean up the surface and install this one.

Awesome product. Hardest part was removing the old cover and it's not a big deal. The replacement covered a dent I had that would have cost in the $1000.00 range (spoke with my local body and fender guy) with repair, re-badging, paint and clear coat. this fixed it for 150 bucks. Very satisfied!! Don't listen to the poor reviews, they are not arcuate in my opinion. My 2 pennies worth.
