Description

Our 6.7L EGR Cleaning Kit with crankcase vent filter for the '07.5-'12, 6.7L Cummins diesel engine is designed for the do-it-yourselfer who is handy with basic tools and doesn't want to pay dealer prices to have this maintenance done.

Cummins 6.7L owners are aware that there is a service required at the 67,500 mile interval: change the crankcase vent filter, clean the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, and EGR cooler assembly.

If you price these parts over-the-counter at Mopar the cost is $180 plus $40 for the cleaning solution.

We would suggest using the Cummins equivalent parts for the gaskets and filter that are needed and we'd also suggest using Simple Green (it smells just like the Mopar cleaner) as your cleaning solution.

The Geno's Garage 6.7L EGR Cleaning Kit contains the following:

  • (1) CV520010 Crankcase Vent Filter
  • (2) EGR valve gaskets
  • (1) Small exhaust manifold gasket
  • (1) Large exhaust manifold gasket
  • (1) EGR butterfly gasket
  • (3) EGR plumbing gaskets
  • (3) Cooling system O-Rings
  • (1) Airhorn gasket
  • (2) Rubber plugs

NOTE: Will not work on Cab/Chassis trucks.

Freddie Frugal

Freddie Frugal knows that if you are going to spend time cleaning the EGR valve and EGR cooler, that you'll remove and clean the intake air horn that the EGR valve is bolted to. The replacement gasket for air horn-to-intake manifold is 4940849 and it is included in our EGR Cleaning Kit.

Additionally, our kit has thorough instructions for removal of the parts and tips on best method(s) for cleaning.

Finally, Freddie Frugal adds two rubber plugs for the ends of the EGR cooler assembly so you don't waste cleaning fluid. Fill up the cooler, cap it off, and soak it overnight. Use the caps to shake the cooler with the cleaner inside.

Good kit with one missing part

I recently bought and used Geno's kit for the EGR/CCV filter service (I did mine at 90K miles). All was fine except one incorrect gasket. Geno's supplied (3) 3949910 gaskets for the EGR connections. My truck, an '08, uses (2) 3949910 and (1) 68027035 (a steel shim-type gasket at the r.h. end of the EGR crossover pipe instead of the 3949910 thick conical impregnated-type gasket).
Owner Response:We have found that some trucks have the metal gasket and some have the other type from the factory. The type supplied will work to replace the metal gasket if that's what your truck currently uses.
