I ordered and installed on my last oil change. At the time I had some oil I got in bulk stored in 5 gallon buckets, long story short, I grabbed the wrong bucket and over filled the truck. The valve allowed me to drain only what I needed to get my truck back down to the normal range without completely draining it, or making a huge mess. It paid for itself on day 1.

I used this drain plug on my 2012 and now use it on my 2014 6.7. Draining hot oil is easier and cleaner!
If you change your own oil

You need one of these if you change your own oil. The distance to the oil drain pan is a long way and you will have a big mess to clean up as the splash is big when it hits the pan. Just add a hose to the drain valve and you get all the old oil where you want it. Order the nipple for the hose. We have 2 Rams and this item is a must have.

Great Product however I would wish for a Plug to screw in-place of the Nipple Drain for added security and safety.

After my first oil change on my cummins, I looked for a solution to the major splash that the large stream of oil produces. Found many use this neat little device. I will install this during my next oil change so my future changes will be much simpler and cleaner.

Another "creature comfort" I was hesitant to buy. I also bought the nipple you can screw on and attached a hose to. Worked perfectly, no mess at all. No leaks from it being screwed onto the oil pan nor from the ball that seals off the hole. Besides it being less messy, it makes the job easier and less time consuming. Screw on the nipple, attach hose, open the drain, go do something else while you're waiting.

Havnt done an oil change yet, and forgot to order the nipple for it, but it seems well made and i tested it and it opens and shuts just fine, dont know why this isnt the standard, Geno's Garage is awesome

Had this for over 10 years on an 05 Ram 2500. Has worked flawlessly and now picking up one for a 2021 I just got, won't go back to standard, this enables full temp dumping of oil with no burn and no mess. Just buy it....you won't regret this purchase
