Description

Starting in 2003, the Cummins 5.9-liter engine has used a high pressure common rail (HPCR) fuel injection system. The fuel system components are made by OEM.

Over the last 10+ years the system has proven to be reliable, especially when you consider the injectors may fire up to five times per power stroke. However, this high frequency duty cycle causes the injector to wear out at anywhere from 150k to 250k miles. Lack of maintenance and poor fuel filtration can shorten injector life. If you are having trouble with one, the other five will fail shortly thereafter. The labor for one is the same as the labor for six. The replacement parts decision involves serious money and repair time.

With too great a frequency, our tech staff has to answer who, what, when, where and why when it comes to injector replacement.

  • Who - You need a vendor you can trust.
  • What - You need to stick with the OEM name. They made (and continue to make) the injector. They know a bit more than "Ivan the Injector Dude."
  • When - You need injectors that are in stock and ready to ship.
  • Where - You need a location where you can easily return your core for credit.
  • Why - This question should have been first. The typical bad injector problem shows up as you experience excessive hard starts.
After making far too many recommendations, we went to OEM and added the fuel injectors for HPCR trucks. So, now you have the best of both, a manufacturer and vendor you can rely on.

Your old injector cores are required back. And, if you think about the reman story, who better than the original manufacturer to "get it right" the second time around. Whatever you do, stay with OEM Reman.

NOTE: Will only work on 2007.5-2012 Ram 2500/3500 trucks. They will not work on Cab & Chassis trucks.

NOTE: There is a $150.00 per injector core charge refundable upon return of the old injector.
